Who's this? That, my friends, is Charles Darwin.

Why? Charles Darwin is a man I admire for many reasons, the main ones being his inspiring voyage on the beagle and the subsequent and consequent work on the origin of species. The site 'mascot' could have just as easily been Tesla, Newton, Da Vinci, Einstein, Hawking, Aristotle, Hooke, or any other great historical figure, but I chose Darwin because 1) There is something personally about Darwin and his story that resonates with me deeply. 2) To date(15/09/14), I have no photoshop skills and Darwin seemed simple to create with paint and 3) I find Darwin's name rolling off my tongue quite frequently during exclamations such as "Darwin's beard!", "Oh my Darwin!" and 4) there is also a story that me and two close friends laugh about in which I handed a barmaid £10 whilst telling her "That's a Darwin.", meaning that I hope to receive the right change when she brings my drink over. As she scurried away they proceeded to burst into stitches at what I had just said.

The Renaissance Ideal is dedicated to the preservation of the motion of thought and action. We're here to experiment, experience, learn and do.

"A master in the art of living draws no sharp distinction between his work and his play; his labor and his leisure; his mind and his body; his education and his recreation. He hardly knows which is which. He simply pursues his vision of excellence through whatever he is doing, and leaves others to determine whether he is working or playing. To himself, he always appears to be doing both." - François-René de Chateaubriand
